Crackdown on illicit liquor Updated: Updated: Share Article AAA In a single day crackdown on liquor seizures, over 4,864 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor were seized along with other liquor in Morappur jurisdiction on Tuesday. Special task forces were constituted by Superintendent of Police Pravesh Kumar under the DSPs and police teams to conduct raids across the district. In its wake, raids were conducted along the district border with Tiruvannamalai. On Tuesday, 4,864 bottles of IMFL, 14 lts of ID arrack, and fermented wash were seized. As of date, 6,141 IMFL bottles, 17,388 Karnataka made IMFL bottles, 290 litres of illicit liquor, 1,245 litres of fermented wash and 18 litres of toddy were seized.

Jayachandra Bhanu Reddy convened a consultative meeting on the containment measures to be put in place in the district. Addressing the line departments, the Collector said, the restrictions vis-à-vis containment zones shall continue along the lines of a full lockdown. There shall be no religious gatherings and festivals in the district from Saturday. Private firms, industries, commercial establishments and eateries shall ensure masks, sanitisers, and physical distancing in their work places. No entry shall be permitted to those without masks.

Palsan (Uthangarai and Bargur), and Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma (Krishnagiri and Vepanahalli) and police observer Sunil Bhaskar and Superintendent of Police Bandi Gangadar.

Low-key celebrations in Krishnagiri

Updated: Share Article AAA Collector S.P. Karthikaa accepted the guard of honour at the district sports stadium in Dharmapuri on Tuesday.   Collector V. Jayachandra Bhanu Reddy unfurled the Tri-colour, marking the 72nd Republic Day celebrations at the district sports complex here on Tuesday. The celebrations were devoid of the usual cultural extravaganza put out by school students every year owing to COVID-19 prorocols. Over 48 police personnel were given the Chief Minister’s medal for service excellence. Similarly, 119 government staff of various departments were felicitated with shields and certificates. Welfare benefits to the tune of ₹35.74 lakh were distributed to 25 beneficiaries.

Counting centre: Collector inspects college to ascertain preparedness

Karthika inspected the Government Engineering College in Chettikarai on Thursday, to ascertain the infrastructural preparedness at the counting centre to be located at the engineering college for the Assembly election in 2021. A report of the same would be forwarded to the Election Commission of India to seek its consent for designating the college as a counting centre for the Assembly election. The EVMs will be stored in compliance with the safety protocols in the strong rooms on the engineering college premises after the elections. Earlier on Thursday, Ms. Karthika inspected the college premises to ascertain the preparedness of the college in the light of the prolonged shuttering of the building premises due to COVID-19.
