Oswego, N.Y. – Oswego’s mayor is taking the rare step of using police to build a case to move residents out of Pontiac Nursing Home which has a long history of abuse and neglect.
Oswego police are expanding an investigation into Pontiac by seeking information from employees, residents and others familiar with the facility.
Oswego Mayor William Barlow has also asked state officials to revoke the 80-bed home’s license and offered to help transfer its residents to other homes.
“This facility has long been considered a stain on our community, with a notorious reputation for inflicting pain and suffering on residents, family members and employees,” Barlow said in a letter to state Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker.
