Drive by
elderlies,
police have met around 1,500 senior citizens
The senior citizens living alone are the most vulnerable amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. It is not the infection or
lockdown, but their loneliness that is adding to their woes. To help such elderlies, Pune rural police have launched a unique drive. They are not only visiting such people and talking to them, but also helping them get the
jab and medicines.
“The police came to my house and talked to me and provided me with medicines. After talking my heart out with them, I forgot all my loneliness. My children stay away from me, but never inquire about me. I wanted my children to be like them. For me, the police are my family, who are supporting me in my old age,” said an 80-year-old senior citizen living alone in the city.
