Rapid City Police investigating fatal Friday night shooting on East North Street

RAPID CITY, S.D. Police in Rapid City say one person is dead and another injured after a shooting on East North Street Friday evening.
Police say they responded to 212 E. Blvd. North after a report of shots fired at the address. One person was transported to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Another person was located inside the address deceased.
A suspect vehicle was identified and located in the area of Nowlin Street and Farlow Avenue. A traffic stop on the vehicle was conducted in the 1100 block of Farlow Avenue. Occupants of the vehicle fled into a nearby residence.

Late winter storm moves eastward; school closings and postponements

STURGIS, S.D. – Winter Storm Warnings for most of extreme western South Dakota have been allowed to expire, although roads this morning remain slippery and snow covered.
Kadoka, Philip, White River and areas in south central South Dakota remain under a Winter Storm Warning until 9:00 a.m. and no travel is advised on I-90 from Rapid City eastward. No travel advisories also remain on most roads south of I-90.
In Sturgis, crews were out at 4:00 a.m. to begin clearing major arteries and snow routes. They will move to the residential areas as those routes are cleared.
