fireworks and lots of vandalism and violence and today as we have been surveying the scene we saw the aftermath of that. behind me we are at the police station here. there is lots of police fans. as we have been saying, 16,000 police officers being deployed so that is more than last night across the country. in other parts of the country. in other parts of the country we have seen some reports of violence already this evening. so, again, it is another night which is unpredictable but once again authorities are bracing themselves for more violence. you are at a police station. we just heard this statement from the main police union, using strong words, saying they were combating a wild gang. they said it was time to fight and eradicate these pests. what sense do you have being in france about what job sense do you have being in france about whatjob the police are doing to quell these protests? police are doing to quell these rotests? ~ ., protests? well, i mean, the thin . protests? wel
for french president emmanuel macron, but it is sparking yet more protests across the country, cnn s replied. guin joins us now from paris. so what kind of reaction have you seen? in response to this ruling? earlier today, fred? well, there s been a lot of anger, especially here on the streets of paris, guys. we had a demonstration that took place just as the verdict from the constitutional council was announced, and the situation now in the evening is one where there is still a lot of display of anger, but crowds have dispersed a little bit of a cat and mouse game between the cops and the protesters were still out here. you can see right here. the police still out in full force. we have the police fans. they re behind us. we did see the police. charge a couple of protesters. so it has been. you know, some of the difficult night here in paris so far, and in general, we do have to say there are a lot of people here in france were very angry at the fact that the retirement age is going t
passed. they give speeches there, where they started and then a group of those activists and lawmakers and leaders left the steps of the supreme court marched one of the u.s. senate s office buildings, they helped signs, they chanted no justice no peace, said this is what democracy looks like. when they arrived at the senate office building they stood in the line in front of the door, momentarily blocking anyone from coming in or out, as an act of civil disobedience. they said the filibuster has to go. for they said if we don t get it, shut it down. and you see that police officer there pacing in front of them, that is how you know they were about to be arrest. eventually, the arrest started. and even some of the protesters kept chanting while they were handcuffed waiting in handcuffs, waiting to be loaded into the police fans. but they were doing a call and response with the people watching on the sidewalks, saying black voters, they matter here. ten people s were arrested today.
