KOHIMA Even as health experts in the country have raised alarm over the sharp spike in COVID-19 cases over the past few weeks, Nagaland officials said the state is prepared to handle a possible new wave, with various facilities in place. Addressing a press conference in Kohima on Saturday, Commissioner and Secretary for Health and Family Welfare, Y Kikheto Sema, said they are monitoring the situation in the state as COVID cases have increased in other parts of the country. “Although with limited infrastructure, we were able to tackle the first, second and third waves of COVID-19. So with that kind of experience, we are confident to face any eventuality,” he said. The SIT completed its probe more than six months after 14 innocent villagers were killed — 13 in a botched ambush by the 21 Para Special Forces at Oting village in Mon district on December 4, 2021, and one during a protest in connection with the incident on the next day. Our Reporter Dimapur, June 11 (EMN): As many as 24 complaint calls have made to Nagaland police since the intra-state check gates were removed in an attempt to curb illegal taxation and action taken on all the calls, said Director General of Police (DGP), T John Longkumer, at a press conference on Saturday held at Rhododendron Hall, Police Complex in Chumoukedima. The DGP said that some calls were related to incidents in Larorijan, so they had registered a case and handed it over to the Assam police for necessary action. He also updated that they recently had a meeting with the chief secretary of Nagaland in regards to application by departments that wish to re-open the check gates, and decision is still awaited. When asked about if the closure of the check gates had any effect on law and order enforcement, Additional Director General of Police, Sandeep M Tamgadge replied that various state police agencies are co-ordinating to check illegal activities. “After the order, under t
