STEVENS POINT – Nine months after former Police Chief Martin Skibba resigned amid a scandal, the city s Police and Fire Commission is hitting the reset button on its search for a replacement.
The commission offered the job to Brent Plisch, assistant police chief with the University of Wisconsin-Madison Police Department, but Plisch turned it down, according to an email from commission President Gary Wescott to city officials.
Former Police Chief Martin Skibba resigned on June 19. He had been on administrative leave or suspension since early March 2020, while the Police and Fire Commission investigated claims he was drinking on the job as well as other allegations about his conduct.
