A police standoff with a man who allegedly violated a protection order blocked traffic Friday on Route 126 in Monmouth before the man surrendered around midday, authorities said.
Howard Gribbin, 55, had barricaded himself in the garage of his Route 126 home and would not answer the door when crews responded around 7:45 a.m., according to a news release from the Monmouth Police Department.
“Gribbin had been served a protection order earlier this week, and the person who had the protection order called to say he was at the house,” Monmouth Police Chief Kevin Mulherin said in a phone interview Friday.
