T we start first wit milwaukee, it was all sparked saturday after a Police Officer shot and killed an armed suspect when he ran away during a traffic stop. Police say that 23yearold Sylville Smith was shot twice once in the a, he died on scene. The officer is on administrative duty while the Wisconsin Department of justice investigates the shooting. But it was a different scene last night. A group of people were gathered in the streets near sherman and burleigh. Officers were in riot gear and lined the streets to keep things under control. Sherman park neighborhood. But what remains of this burned up gas station is a reminder of the unrest over the weekend. The atf is offering a 10thousand dollar reward leading to information that leads to arrests and convictions. The investigation covers a total of eight commercial fires that were set. Besides the bp station. Those include an Oreilly Auto Parts store, a bmo harris bank, a Beauty Supply store, a supermarket and three liquor stores. Three of those fires are near the intersections of 35th, du lac, and burleigh. The feds say the are working with the milwaukee fire department, and the state department of justice among other agencies. The owner of the bp gas station that was torched on saturday night. By a piece of concrete and sustained a concussion and a laceration requiring seven stitches to close after a request from Milwaukee County sheriff david clarke, Governor Scott walker has activated 125 members of the National Guard to milwaukee. Our intention is that they are not coming over to be immediately on the ground or on the streets, but that they would be available at this site if a request was made sunday, clarke and Milwaukee Police chief ed flynn clarke said they each have the authority to make that request.
