An annual event to support Special Olympics Montana athletes, the President s Polar Plunge, is going virtual this year.
Normally, the President s Plunge takes place at the East Gallatin Recreation Area at Bozeman Beach. Due to COVID-19 safety precautions, organizers have made the decision to create a virtual plunge for 2021.
To support the Virtual Presidents Day plunge this year, local law enforcement will be taking an icy shower provided by a Bozeman Fire Department truck.
Local law enforcement hopes to raise funds and awareness and get the community involved in this year’s Virtual Presidents Day Plunge. Officers from all over the valley are leading by example by “getting cold and having fun” and letting Special Olympics Montana athletes in the Gallatin Valley know that they love and support them.

POLSON â Organizers say that this yearâs Flathead Rez Polar Plunge is going virtual and you can take part whenever and however you like.
Those who wish to take part are being asked to take a photo or video and share it for a chance to win the most creative plunge.
A compilation of videos will be aired on Polar Plunge Montanaâs Facebook page on Saturday, Jan. 9.
The event offers people the chance to raise funds to benefit local Special Olympics Athletes, many of whom will be participating in the virtual plunge as well.
Special Olympics Montana Polar Plunges Have Gone Virtual
There s been a ton of activities that have gone virtual this year because COVID-19 has been a major Debbie Downer to anything that resembles an event or gathering. One organization that has taken to cyberspace to help them raise funds this year is Special Olympics Montana.
Their fundraisers take some serious dedication as participants have to commit to performing their own virtual polar plunge! There s multiple events throughout Montana that have been running since November and will continue through February of 2021. I don t know how I missed it but the Missoula event was earlier in December.
