The police are preparing to charge four key figures behind the political rally outside Government House on Thursday for organising a public gathering in violation of the Disease Control Act and the emergency decree, says the Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB).
MPB s deputy chief, Pol Maj Gen Piya Tawichai, said authorities have identified four leaders of the UNME of Anarchy group, who will be summoned to acknowledge the charges at Nang Loeng police station on April 25.
The group used its social media channels to get its supporters to gather near Chamaimaruchet Bridge.

An anti-government protest leader on Thursday shrugged off reports that police would summon many protest leaders to hear charges related to Sunday s rally that was held to demand the ousting of Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha.
Adul Khiewboriboon, leader of the Samakkhi Prachachon group and chairman of a support group for relatives of the Black May 1992 victims, instead threatened to hold Gen Prayut accountable for failing to contain the spread of Covid-19.
On Wednesday, Pol Maj Gen Piya Tawichai, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, said police had summoned two leaders and 26 other people involved in Sunday s protest to answer a slew of charges that could also include lese majeste.

Police have summoned two leaders and 26 other people involved in Sunday s protest against Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha to answer a slew of charges that could also include lese majeste.
Red-shirt leader Jatuporn Prompan, who organised the mass gathering on behalf of the Thai Mai Thon (Impatient Thais) group and Adul Khiewboriboon, leader of the Samakkhi Prachachon group, will be among 14 people summoned to meet investigators and answer charges next Thursday, Pol Maj Gen Piya Tawichai, deputy commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau said on Wednesday.

Yesterday, it was reported by the Bangkok Post that “[a]n adviser to the House Committee on Law …[had] filed a complaint with police against protest leader Jatuporn Prompan for allegedly violating the lese majeste law.”
The culprit is Sonthiya Sawasdee, who “asked police at Chana Songkhram station to look into Mr Jatuporn’s speech that he delivered on Sunday at the Santiporn Park … where he held a mass protest for the Sammakhi Prachachon Pheu Prathet Thai (People’s Unity for Thailand) to see if it violated the lese majeste law.”
The protest was in fact held to demand the resignation of coup leader and Prime Minister Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha, and as far as we could tell, tried to avoid commentary on the monarchy.
