Security has been tightened to shield the venue hosting the 2022 Apec summit from any disruption by protesters as international delegates start to arrive in Bangkok, national police chief Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittiprapas said on Wednesday.
Almost 23,000 CCTV cameras have been installed in Bangkok and surrounding provinces to heighten safety during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit, said national police chief Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittiprapas.
More than 35,000 police officers will be deployed to ensure security during the 29th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (Apec) summit in Bangkok on Friday and Saturday, according to Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittiprapas, chief of the national police.
Police are looking into more evidence to find out if a Chinese suspect arrested in possession of a false Thai ID card on Wednesday is in any way linked to illegal Chinese businesses operating in Thailand, said national police chief Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittiprapas.
