LARUT: The case of six Perak Matriculation College students in Gopeng which went viral after they were issued compounds for not wearing face masks has been solved, said Perak Health, Environment and Green Technology Committee chairman, Mohd Akmal Kamaruddin.
He said the state government had held a meeting with the college, Kampar Health Department and Perak Health Department recently and had decided that the students did not have to pay the compounds.
‘’The case was settled and the students did not have to pay a single sen on the compounds imposed on them. So, they don’t have to worry.I also met with the father of one of the students and told him that the case has been settled.

There are 30 candidates vying to be one of the 15 committee members. Half of them come from Team Nga, including his cousin, Beruas MP Datuk Ngeh Koo Ham; while the rest are Team Su, with Ipoh Barat MP M. Kulasegaran.
IPOH: DAP’s Malim Nawar assemblyman Leong Cheok Keng’s party membership has been terminated with immediate effect.
Party disciplinary committee chairman Chong Chien Jen said this was decided after a meeting held on Sunday (Jan 17) by the committee members.
He said DAP’s constitution does not allow any party member to become a member of another political party, and anyone found doing so would have their party membership terminated.
“Dual-membership is deemed to be treachery to the party, as it has widely been reported in the media that Leong has applied to join MCA.
“The committee had written to Leong to seek clarification and an explanation from him about the media reports but instead of replying to our letter, he told the media that he would not reply to the query, ” he added.
PETALING JAYA: The DAP disciplinary committee has issued a letter to Malim Nawar assemblyman Leong Cheok Keng following media reports that he was joining MCA.
