automatic immunity, civil rights leaders say that must be reform accountability after everything we have been debating. republicans have been fighting to strip it. the black lives matter that reflected in our policies which is why we need to end qualify immunity. it is extremely important. imagine you are thinking about becoming a police officer and you think you are going to be liable for every thing you try to break up. it is a broken doctrine that should never have been created. qualified immunity is off the table. they see it as a poison bill on our side. #. this is a huge central item for leaders who want to reform policing. progressive reforms insisting it should stay in the house s bill.
sticking point was voter i.d. democrats said we re wig to give on voter i.d. in exchange for expansion of early voting, banning partial redistricting which i think everybody agrees with if you re a republican in new york you re probably against partisan redistricting or a republican in illinois, probably against redistricting and also making election day a holiday. if you can make an election day holiday everybody will have the ability to vote. another shop day. yes. you don t have to work. and we have to work. holiday special. but i do think this is what you call meet in the middle, right? there is a lot of provisions in the joe mansion compromise, and what was in the 1965 voting rights act, bringing those across in exchange for voting i.d. taxpayer money for campaign, ballot trafficking and a fire others. that s not a compromise. it s called the poison bill. fox news alert. i was right. richard was wrong. the definitive answer is that i, the republicans, did not, i
judiciary committee part of this process, the president is allowed to bring in his own lawyers and use white house lawyers or presidential lawyers to question witnesses that are called before the judiciary committee. but there s one little poison bill buried even in there. in that part of the resolution, it says if the white house continues to stonewall or not cooperate in this probe, that right could be curtailed. so, a little bit of something to try to keep the white house invested in this process going forward. as to what happens next, we ll have a mark-up today that will be something of a formality. this bill was written by house leadership. it s unlikely to change significantly. there will be votes counted, a whip process will go on to make sure democrats have the votes they need, and when they get the votes they need, they ll put this thing on the floor on thursday. heidi, you ve got new reporting around the democrats strategy here as this probe continues. give it us to. all
