Reaching a 75th wedding anniversary is rare. Rarer yet is one of those few couples winding up where they first met.
But that s what happened for John and Vera Koser.
Dec. 13 will mark the 75th anniversary of the day the couple, he at age 19 and she at 17, drove to Hagerstown, Md. during his days-long leave from military service, got a marriage license, walked to a nearby church and asked a pastor to marry them.
It had been just over a year since they met late in 1944, a period they spent mostly talking through letters with only a few dates while John served in the Army.
