For about 35 years, the Lions Club has been operating the city-owned Pointe des Chenes campground.
The 100-plus site campground has been called a “jewel” by those who have used it, some families for years, as an escape from the “city” in favour of an outdoor and relaxed trailer lifestyle during warm summer months.

It’s been the home of movie nights, bingo nights, minnow races, cardboard boat races and special Halloween trick-or-treating, for the many seasonal residents and visitors who have camped there.

City council will be asked Monday to approve the closure of Pointe Des Chenes Campground.
The closure would be effective for the 2021 season and is as a result of capital projects needed to improve water quality issues there.

The Lions Club has been operating the city-owned Pointe Des Chenes campground for 35 years.
The campground includes 108 campsites, two comfort stations and a day park and beach open to the public.
A report to council states that the 2020 season included challenges of the pandemic, half-occupancy and water quality issues that included a ‘no drinking water advisory’ in place throughout the June to October season.
