State Fire Marshal Investigating Decatur Warehouse Fire
The Illinois State Fire Marshal is set to investigate a Decatur warehouse fire. The blaze broke out late Saturday afternoon at a warehouse near East Grand Avenue and North Calhoun Street. First arriving crews found heavy fire coming from the entire roof of the large industrial building. The fire was upgraded to a two-alarm, and then a three-alarm fire due to the size of the structure. Decatur Fire crews began surrounding the building with ladder trucks and ground monitors. After 3 hours, crews were able to extinguish the fire. The building was a total loss. Hickory Point Fire Protection and Mt. Zion Fire Dept. assisted Decatur Fire Department with protecting the City while crews remained on scene. Two firefighters suffered minor injuries that required no treatment. Ameren was called in after numerous power lines burned. No word yet on the cause.
