A hearing on Prescription Drug prices. This is a bipartisan issue. That focuses on the many years. The first witness at our hearing was a woman named antoinette. A mother whose daughter died at 22 years of age after rationing insulin because she could not afford it. It was the subject of our hearing on hiv prevention drugs in may. Today, five patients and a Family Member are here to share their stories. I urge all members who go back to your districts and to talk to your constituents about their experiences struggling to pay for lifesaving drugs. I fear you will discover that we are facing a drug crisis in america. We have seen time and time again Drug Companies, skyrocketing prices, forcing families to make gutwrenching choices every day. Good morning, everyone. All good morning. I hope everyones had a good week so far. I certainly did whenever i was here a couple years ago. So this morning im going to talk to you about the food fights or rationing in world war ii. We all know that teenagers and most of us work with teenagers have large appetites. I have one at home with an incredibly large appetite. Id like to try to engage kids with a topic that not only fits their appetite but also increases their appetite for learning. And i find that food is oftentimes a very engaging topic. Napoleon or frederick the great, depending on who you listen to, once said that an army marches on its stomach. To supply not just the u. S. I want to thank all of you for taking the time and caring enough about our country to get together and talk about what we are going to do to make things better. We are at a difficult moment in the life of this nation. We are at a chaotic and unstable and frightening and divided moment. But, i believe that it is in our hands to change all of that. Not just for the moment, but for the era that is ahead of us. I think we are lucky and unlucky enough to be among those americans who get to be alive making decisions when the country reaches a fork in the road. Thanis about a lot more who is the president today. Although lord knows, were going to need a new president. [ap
