Mountain Arts Guild accepting new members

KEYSER - The Mountain Arts Guild is happy to announce that they are now accepting new member applications! Memberships are open to students, individuals, families, businesses, and nonprofit organizations. If you are interested in joining or would like to learn more about the organization, MAG wants to encourage you to come to one of the membership drives happening this month.
Tuesday, April 6, from 4-6 p.m. you can stop by the Mineral County Tourism & Mineral County Chamber of Commerce office located at 21 N. Davis St. in Keyser. The office is located directly across from the Post Office.

Every day at 9:30am, Shanghainese woman Ling Aiwen, 35, opens the door of her cafe “100FFEE” on Yongjia Road in Xuhui District. The three-year-old coffee house also has a Chinese name “Baifei Daixing,” a well-known phrase that translates roughly as “a thousand things wait to be done.”
The charm of coffee has entranced Shanghainese for more than a century and become a part of the city’s culture.
Records show the earliest import of coffee in Shanghai can be traced back to 1844. China now has its own famous coffee from southwestern Yunnan Province.

Artist uses his talents to paint popular chicken at Eastern College

MOOREFIELD – Eastern West Virginia Community and Technical College’s eight-foot chicken statue was recently painted by local artist Kelson Thorne.
The statue, named “Henrietta” by Eastern president Dr. Charles Terrell, was one of Kelson’s many recent mural projects completed over the summer and fall. The statue overlooks Corridor H on the north end of Eastern’s campus, welcoming travelers to the Poultry Capital of West Virginia.
Thorne is a graduate of West Virginia University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in fine arts in painting in December 2019. He now works as a recovery specialist at the Potomac Highlands Guild.
