The website said the crash was reported just before 3 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Poinsett Highway at U.S. Highway 276, near Furman University.Sign up for our Newsletters The northbound lanes were blocked, but no other information was immediately available. Sky 4 flew over the scene starting at about 4:30 p.m. and showed a long backup and a trooper directing traffic off the Highway. The scene was cleared and traffic slowly began flowing again just before 5 p.m.

In the 1980s, the bull was featured in the center of the Bi-Lo logo. That lasted until 1988, when the bull was replaced with a dash. The fiberglass bulls began coming down from store roofs in 1981; the last bull was removed in 1992. Before their removals, the bulls often were the victims of theft and pranks. “No sooner had (Frank Outlaw) placed a (Bi-Lo bull) on a store on the Poinsett Highway than Furman students tried to lift it. Stealing the Bi-Lo bulls became great fun for college students. Once a Clemson student was shot trying to ascend with one from a store in Pendleton,” Jimmy Cornelison wrote in a December 1984 edition of The Greenville News.
