The Pocomoke City Police Department is investigating a Tuesday night shooting that sent one person to the hospital.
The shooting was reported at about 8:10 p.m. on Laurel Street, according to police.
A victim was shot in the leg, police said, and had to be taken to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional in Salisbury That person has since been transferred to George Washington University Hospital in Washington D.C. for treatment.
POCOMOKE CITY, Md. Pocomoke City Police Chief Lee Brumley announced this week that he has turned in his letter of resignation citing recent events as the cause for his sudden departure. On Monday I turned my resignation into the city manager at Pocomoke City Hall, Brumley said in a brief statement to Delmarva Now. I felt it was the right time because of some unforeseen issues that occurred in the past week.
He added, I have enjoyed my time in the past 26 months as chief of police with Pocomoke City.
The issue doesn t involve the city or himself, Brumley said Thursday morning in a phone interview. It also doesn t relate to any litigation or investigation.

POCOMOKE CITY, Md. – Police are searching for a missing teen in Pocomoke.
We’re told 14-year-old Benjamin Ayres has been missing since Friday, April 9th. He was last seen wearing black pants, a black zip-up style jacket, and blue with neon pink accent Nike shoes.

POCOMOKE CITY, Md. –
Pocomoke Police are searching for missing person Stanley Smith Jr. He was last seen entering a transit bus on February 6, 2021 in Pocomoke City. That train was traveling towards the Fruitland/Salisbury area.
Smith Jr. is described as a 61-year-old African-American male, with a slender build, about 5’10” in height, weighing around 185 pounds. He has brown eyes, with black hair, wearing a goatee. He was last seen wearing a burgundy jacket, tan pants, white socks, and red/blue sneakers.
