Inglewood fullback Cody Hall charges through the defence. Inglewood got out to a healthy 19-7 lead at one stage, but Old Boys’ patience close to the line in the second half secured their fifth victory. Inglewood’s Josh Jacob scored a try and slotted two conversions, but missed a conversion and penalty in gusty conditions, which was the difference in the score line.
During the after-match, Barrett said it was an honour to play 100 games for the club. “I love the boys, I love the team, and I’ve been here from day one. Been tea boy, water boy and come after games at FD [Francis Douglas],” he said.

Barrett is hailed as he runs out at the start of the match. Barrett made his premier debut in 2014 against Spotswood United, after leaving school a year before. He recalls the match when he had to tackle two strong Taranaki representatives. “I remember having to tackle Seta [Tamanivalu] and Waisake [Naholo]. It wasn’t nice dripping at 85kg.”
