Communications Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the next spectrum auction will be a limited auction, smaller than the previous round. This is because a large part of the required spectrum was already auctioned last year. The government is working on a proposal to auction smaller chunks of spectrum that were left out. Telcos have sufficient spectrum from past auctions, so the demand will mainly be for renewing radiowaves in select circles. The minister also discussed the allocation for the PLI 2.0 scheme for IT hardware.
