A record-breaking $250,000 worth of cash and food has been raised for the local foodbank by the Tauranga community in its annual Christmas Appeal - smashing its original cash goal of $120,000.
A total of $258,416.48 was raised in cash and food donations over the six-week appeal for the Tauranga Community Foodbank.

A last-minute $30,000 donation from a Tauranga company has helped push the total raised in this year s Christmas foodbank appeal to a record $190,990.
Synergy Technologies donated the money to the Bay of Plenty Times Christmas Appeal, run in partnership with Gilmours Wholesale Food and Beverage Tauriko, on Thursday.
A total of $132,000 in cash had been raised by Friday afternoon, with 29,495 food items worth $58,990. Each food item is valued at $2.

One club, 14 volunteers, 32 hours and a generous community has raised $7700 for the Tauranga Community Foodbank.
Tauranga Te Papa Rotary Club volunteers worked over two weekends for their Cash or Cans Appeal; one was at Countdown Bureta, and the other at Countdown Fraser Cove.
Over four days of eight-hour campaigns, volunteers took turns doing two-hour stints.
This healthy injection into the foodbank comes with just two days to go for the Bay of Plenty Times Christmas Appeal, in partnership with Gilmours Wholesale Food and Beverage Tauriko.
