My dear citizens of Nagaland. Today, we have stepped into the 73rd year since the Naga people put their thumb impressions in favour of Naga Sovereignty in that historic Voluntary Plebiscite Day on 16th May, 1951. On the occasion of celebrating the 73rd Naga Plebiscite Day today, I convey my heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all our Naga people wherever they may be. Let us give thanks to God, the Almighty for piloting us throughout to come this far. NNC (PB) opposes holding ULB elections on May 16

Dimapur In tune with the NSCN (IM), the NNC (Parent Body) has objected to holding the urban and local body elections imposed by the Election Commission of India coinciding with the 72 years anniversary of the Naga national Plebiscite Day on May 16. “The Plebiscite Day is a Naga national day and therefore, the Nagas will observe and celebrate this day, as 72 years ago 99.9% of Nagas voted in the form of thumb impression in favour of Naga Independence as a people and nation, and we firmly uphold the democratic rights of this Referendum (Plebiscite), which is known to the world at large but also particularly known to the government or India and Burma (Military Junta of Myanmar),” stated Zhiongba Yimkhiung, vice president of NNC (PB).
