We are on the scene of breaking news in the east bay at an Apartment Fire that started about an hour ago. Cbs 5 reporter Elissa Harrington is in hayward getting the latest. Reporter that apartment completely destroyed and there was a mother who lived there with her young son. She told us that she thinks somebody threw something into her home and thats what caused it to set on fire. So arson investigators are on scene. They are trying to sort all of this out but we are on dixon street right by the bart station. This was a onealarm fire but again it caused significant damage and firefighters say that that family wont be able to return home. Nobody was hurt. But researcher hannah says the deepwater creatures just swam back to shore. It might be that they dont understand whats going on around them and they dont realize, if they swim toward the shore, theyre gonna run out of water eventually. Reporter theyre juveniles, both male and female. A few had also cannibalized each other, which is normal. To be honest, researchers have no idea why this is happening but they think its because the squid have eaten toxic algae. That could be causing they will to be disoriented.
