Its raining in some areas, a little minor showers south of the avon park stretching back to portions of hardee county. Also a line of gulf. In association with our cold front. Its warm out there. Upper 60s and low 70s. Not only warm but extremely humid. That is causing fog, especially as you head towards interior portions of polk and Hillsborough County. Visibilities are below a mile. We hit 79 for today. Mostly cloudy skies. A few of those spotty showers. Were going to preview the weekend coming up. I had to turn on my ac driving to work this morning. Its weird. Considering its december. We have a pretty good drive on the bay area bridges. Not seeing delays as you move across the water
The fire. This is a building that has been in the news lately. In march the vinick Family Foundation announced they were donating 2. 5 million to renovate this rec center. The largest individual gift in the 90year history of the boys and girls club in tampa bay. And it were set to be renamed the jeff and penny vinick family winston park boys and girls club. This will be a blow to the people in the area that depend on rec centers like this for after school care. It was set to community. I grew up here. Everybody here grew up here and just it just meant a lot to see something happening in the neighborhood for the kids. Reporter this building was closed while it was under construction but set to reopen sometime over the next few months. The fire marshal is currently on scene trying to figure out what caused this fire. If there is any good news no one was inside of the building when this fire did break out huge fire. A couple hundred yards in that direction was the site of a wrongway driver going on the interstate. He did it twice before he died is. I passed the dell mabry exit and someone is going the wrong way. A wrongway driver on 275 southbound. That wrongway driver Larry Thompson exited and reentered going the wrong way. The crash killed him and the other driver eugene fisher. The d. O. T. Tracks dozens of wrongway drivers since 2008. Shouldnt the d. O. T. Do more to prevent it. We are. This is what they have done. Washing beacons, censors alert the wrongway driver. Photos are beamed to the Traffic Control office and the fhp. Turnpike managers credit averting crashes 22 out of 23 times. Why not at every exit ramp. We may have to do that. We have a dozen ramps, we want to make sure its working. A good start but far from a cure. Thats where were putting our focus on as well, not just that people are missing the turns and someones fault for not having a sign. People are putting people in jeopardy
