Went up in flames behind me. Its a half block from the burlingame caltran station and steps away from a lot of restaurants and shops. Painting supplies were found on the first floor room where its believed the fire started. Its likely there was a combustible item left near a built in floor heater which caused the blaze. However an investigation into the exact cause is still under way. The fire started just before 4 00 a. M. This morning and the fire crew who were the first on the scene actually immediately called for back up knowing this would continue to grow. About 70 firefighters were battling the flames at the height of the fire which took about an hour and a half to get under control. In this case none of the buildings on this parcel were sprinkled. So because of that the fire was able to extend beyond and involve a structure jadjacent t it. Reporter nobody was home at the time of the fire. But theres a unit behind the property. The man who lives there was able to get out safely.
