Two members of Norway s female beach handball team have spoken out about the recent controversy that saw the team ditch their official bikini uniforms in favour of shorts during a competition.
The move resulted in the team being fined £1,300 (AUD$2,424) and each player being fined a further £130 (AUD$242).
Tonya Lurstaad and Julia Bird appeared on ITV s
Lorraine to discuss the controversy, explaining they had wanted to change their uniform for a long time. But we decided to do that in our last match of the European championship because we wanted to make statement, Bird said on the show. We want to change the regulations.
