Artificial Sun Of Korea Sets World Record After Managing To Run At 100 Million Degrees For 20 Seconds
January 3, 2021
The artificial sun that is made by South Korea has smashed a world record after running over 100 million degrees for around 20 seconds.
The Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research (KSTAR), which is the ones that are responsible of handling a fusion device, confirmed the news.
They are key to the 2020 KSTAR Plasma Campaign.
The goal of KSTAR is create the fusion reactions of the sun on our planet.
In simpler words, humans want to hold the power of the sun in the palm of their hands.

This was the first time a fusion device sustained plasma for more than 10 seconds. More than 250 such tokamak devices have been built so far, but none have been able to achieve this feat thus far.

South Korean scientists set a new world record for high-temperature sustained plasma using a superconducting fusion device on November 24.
The Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research (KSTAR) device, commonly referred to as South Korea’s artificial sun, burnt for 20 seconds straight at an ion temperature of more than 100 million degrees Celsius.

Fusion energy is one of the most limited technology in the world because of the present condition s inability to support it but Koreans have achieved a world record of making it run for 20 seconds. It may not seem enough or long, but in terms of the technology s progression, it is a massive achievement and improvement from previous studies and research.

The next-generation technology is one which people would only hear from science fiction movies to perform its function and push forward with its results, but in real life, the technology is not yet widely available. However, that would soon change because of Korea Superconducting Tokamak Advanced Research s (KSTAR) latest groundbreaking achievement.
