CLAIR SHORES Organizations that help local seniors, children, the homeless and more will benefit from money allocated to different public service organizations through the Community Development Block Grant program administered by St. Clair Shores. Fulfilling requests from nine different public service organizations, along with paying for eligible operations at the St. Clair Shores Senior Activity Center, repavement and repair of eligible streets and repayment of the loan to renovate and expand the senior center, City Council members voted to approve the 2021 annual action plan and budget for the Community Development Block Grant Program at its April 19 meeting.

Two more St. Clair Shores establishments came before St. Clair Shores City Council Feb. 16 seeking approval for additional outdoor seating to meet the demands for al fresco patio drinking and dining. Joe VanderMarliere, the owner of Baffin Brewing Company, 25113 Jefferson Ave., came to City Council seeking approval for an additional permanent outdoor seating area on the north side of the building. The brewery had already set up temporary seating in that area to accommodate more outdoor drinkers with COVID-19 restrictions and now wants to make that expansion more permanent.
