WASHINGTON D.C. Animal rights activists on Thursday morning plan to hold a rally at the nation s capital protesting the alleged mistreatment of the tule elk that they attribute to mismanagement at the hands of the National Parks Service.
PETA supporters said they plan to unfurl a banner that reads: Save the California Tule Elk! The Buck Stops Here! at the protest.
They re demanding that the Department of the Interior halt an NPS plan that aims to promote livestock ranching on the Point Reyes National Seashore the protesters say would deplete water resources and sentence a herd of tule elk to death.
