West Plains, MO. - As covered in our previous article, a large number of emergency vehicles were spotted at the West Plains Motel Friday afternoon. According to a release of information from the city, officers were dispatched to West Plains Motel room for a well-being check. While officers were on scene the subject refused medical assistance. Officers stepped outside, and upon leaving the building, a gun shot was heard coming from the room. Upon reentry officers discovered the subject with an apparent self-inflected gunshot wound. The coroner was contacted and the subject was pronounced deceased at the scene. Investigation showed no foul play was involved.
Tanner Huffman, 27, Koshkonong, was arrested Saturday (1/23) at the West Plains Motel for the alleged theft of a firearm. The arrest led to the recovery of a motorcycle and additional firearms reported stolen from Hardy, Arkansas.
Huffman is being held on $80,000 bond on six charges, including first-degree burglary, stealing a motor vehicle, and unlawful possession of a firearm.

A second man was arrested from the motel room Huffman was located in.
Dustin Chaney, 38, Willow Springs, was arrested on charges of failure to appear on two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of second-degree burglary, all filed by the city of Willow Springs.
