PLAINFIELD – The Select Board has issued a survey on policing in town that’s available for residents to fill out with the aim of providing input to the board and the Police Department.The survey was crafted by the Plainfield Police Ad-Hoc Working.

Police pay, Jake Brakes on Plainfield TM agenda Published: 4/30/2021 5:52:50 PM PLAINFIELD Residents will vote on a 32-item Annual Town Meeting warrant this Saturday, which will include a more than 34% increase in police pay and a proposal to restrict the use of so-called Jake Brakes in town. Town Meeting will take place at the Alden Pavilion on 304 Main St. beginning at 1 p.m. The total proposed budget is $2,239,062, an increase of 8.3% from the $2,067,495 appropriated for fiscal year 2021. Within the operating budget is a proposal to increase total police pay by $27,619, a 34.4% increase, for a total of $107,892. Last year, the increase to police pay supported by the Board of Selectmen and Finance Committee was voted down at Town Meeting. In the wake of this, the Plainfield Police Ad-Hoc Working Group was formed to examine policing in Plainfield and its costs.
