(Contributed photo) LAOAG CITY - Ilocos Norte cyclists are back on the road Saturday to raise funds that will help send indigent children to school. The 35-kilometer "Padyakan sa Paoay" bike for a cause started at Paoay Church, traversed Suba Road to Baay-Nangguyudan Road, passed Paoay Lake, and back to the starting line. Registration fee was PHP250 that came with the event shirt and snacks. The participants aged at least 12 years old were required to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19. "The event is not just for exercise and enjoying the natural landscapes of the province. Through our registration fees, we will be able to provide for the needs of our school children and inspire them to become good citizens," Master Sgt. Noel Aba

ASF checkpoints were established in at least five villages around 5 p.m. on Wednesday to monitor all vehicles entering the city. These checkpoints are located in the border areas of Lagui-Sail Vintar Road, 51-A Nangalisan before the Gilbert Bridge, Barangay Barit, San Mateo, and Balatong where cargo vehicles from other towns and city pass through.
