In the midst of the raging second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, a Corona Devi temple has been built on the outskirts of Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu. The temple was constructed by the Kamatchipuri Adheenam, a mutt. Coimbatore: Kamatchipuri Adhinam, a temple in Coimbatore has consecrated a Corona Devi idol to protect people from the deadly Covid-19 virus.
While speaking to ANI on Friday morning, the manager and priest of the temple, Anand Bharathi said, With a rise in Covid-19 cases in Coimbatore, all the preists of the temple decided to consecrate Corona Devi idol to protect people from Covid-19 pandemic.
We are continuously praying to Corona Devi to show mercy on us and help us get rid of this virus. Many of us chant, show mercy Corona Devi , Make Corona Devi vanish from Earth etc. Also, we will conduct a special two-day pooja hoping that our Devi shows mercy at all of us , said the manager.

In search of divine intervention to provide succour amidst the raging second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, a private temple attached to the Kamatchipuri Adhinam in Coimbatore has installed a deity named ‘Corona Devi’ to pray for warding off the virus.
Located in Ondipudur, the temple saw the installation of the deity on Tuesday, said the mutt’s manager Ananda Bharathi. “This year, [COVID-19] is more severe than it was last year. Hence, we felt that by regarding [the virus] to be a god and praying to it, the disease would be cured,” he said. Mr. Bharathi gave the example of Plague Mariamman, a deity established during the spread of plague around a century ago.
