Curtis Coulter Releases Book On History Of Sale Creek An Excursion To The Past Tuesday, February 23, 2021 Curtis Coulter s An Excursion to the Past is a unique, historical book of two small towns in America with long histories, beginning in 1775 with the sale of 20 million acres of land by the Cherokee Indian Nation to the Transylvania Company. That event sparked the great Indian Wars of East Tennessee that led up to the April 29, 1779 auction that gave Sale Creek its name. Other major historical events included Fields Settlement (precursor to the name of Sale Creek as the community name), the Gideon Blackburn mission to the Cherokee Indians, first settlers, the first schools beginning in 1840, the Civil War years, the Welsh coal mining venture beginning in 1867, the coming of the Cincinnati Southern Railroad in 1880, and the great strawberry and peach growing businesses from 1900-1953 which put Sale Creek on the map.

Sarah Taffer Blasius

Sarah Taffer Blasius, of Terrell, passed away peacefully on Dec. 15, 2020 at her home with family at her side. Sarah was born Feb. 1, 1938 in Terrell and she was met in Heaven by her father, James M. Taffer, mother, Frances (Darst) Taffer Berry, her step father, William D. Berry, husband, Willie Jack Blasius and brother, Edward “Eddie” Taffer. Sarah graduated from Terrell High School in 1956 where, in addition to her academic aptitude, she was an accomplished tennis player on the THS team and was a Flag Bearer with the Color Guard. On March 29, 1958, she married the love of her life, Willie Jack Blasius at Rockwall and Brin Church of Christ, and together they had many wonderful years until his passing in 1997. A loving and supportive wife in all aspects, Sarah was the foundation in their family as Jack’s job opportunities took them to various cities in Texas. She made sure to make their house a home, become a part of their new city’s activities along with finding
