After peaking at almost 6,200 on Jan. 18, new COVID-19 cases recently have averaged just more than 1,000 per day. Meanwhile, vaccinations across the state exceed 50,000 per day. Thatâs what we really donât want â for that virus to continue to evolve and interact with people who have been vaccinated and figure out ways to get around that vaccine.
