Mumbai-based drug manufacturer Rusan Pharma has inaugurated a new active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) facility in Pithampur, Madhya Pradesh, with a total investment of up to Rs 300 crores over two phases. The facility, set to be fully operational, will produce 400 metric tonnes of APIs annually, significantly contributing to Rusan Pharma s expansion plans and portfolio diversification.
A warning letter is issued when the US health regulator finds that a manufacturer has significantly violated its regulations. "Your firm failed to thoroughly investigate any unexplained discrepancy or failure of a batch or any of its components to meet any of its specifications, whether or not the batch has already been distributed," the USFDA stated in the letter.
According to an exchange filing, the drug manufacturer was given a detailed breakdown of the lapses in methods followed at the facility by the USFDA. "This warning letter summarizes contraventions regarding methods or controls followed at the facility which do not conform to the prescribed cGMP regulations and contains directional guidance for necessary corrections," the filing said.
