LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)- Lincoln Parks and Recreation will be conducting a controlled burn today from noon to 3 p.m. at the Pioneers Park Nature Center on S. Coddington Avenue.
The burn will span 12 acres north of the Prairie Building. You’re advised to avoid the area during the burn.
According to Parks and Rec. staff, “Controlled burns are a tool to manage large areas of native plants and grasses. Land managers monitor weather and air quality conditions to ensure safe burns.”

For the first time ever, Lincoln, Neb. will play host to the National High School Finals (NHSFR) July 18-24 and there’s plenty to do in Nebraska’s capital city.

For parents of smaller children, you may be interested in signing them up for one of these programs

These are the available programs to sign your littles up for:
Little Sprouts Preschool – Calvert Recreation Center, 4500 Stockwell St. This program is for ages 3 to 5 and includes music, art, and games to support learning and development. Register online at lincoln.ne.gov (search: preschool) or call 402-441-8480. The schedule and fees are as follows:
Tuesdays and Thursdays, 9 to 11:30 a.m. Fee is $69 per month.
Monday, Wednesdays and Fridays, 9 to 11:30 a.m. Fee is $97 per month.
