republican party chair david schaefer and kathy latham both filed similar notices. they claim they were just acting at trump s direction. do any of these defendants have a chance, and i suppose, what do we make of what s going to happen in this case with all of these defendants ping-ponging in different directions wanting different things? it sounds like it could be chaotic. there certainly are a lot of different moving parts because so many different defendants and defendants who are coming at this from very different perspectives from the former president down to the state level individuals. so the people who have a a decent claim when it comes to removal to federal court are the individuals who were actually federal employees. mark meadows, i think, probably has the strongest among the claims. that doesn t mean that i think he s necessarily going to be successful, but he s not bringing a frivolous action to try to get this removed. he was a federal officer.
