Barnes has lived there for 29 years. She said her diverse community faces quality of life issues that need to be addressed.

It has been more than six months since crews have worked at the new Cascades Casino site off Pinewood Park Drive.
But the time has come for construction to resume, said Rob Mitchell, director of communications at Gateway Casinos and Entertainment Ltd.

“Crews arrived at the site yesterday (Monday) to conduct a site inspection and prepare to resume construction,” he said.
“The last November, we poured the concrete floor and did the electrical work.”
Mitchell said he can’t confirm the casino’s exact opening date, adding a lot will depend on “public health authorities.”

Residents have until Friday to share their thoughts on recommended changes – including new roundabouts – to Lakeshore and Pinewood Park drives.
The City of North Bay is currently looking at upgrading 3.7 kilometres of roadway along Lakeshore Drive and Pinewood Park Drive, from Ferris Drive to approximately 1.04 kilometres south of Decaire Road.

Council awarded a $222,145 contract, plus HST, last summer to Tatham Engineering Ltd. for a Schedule C municipal class environmental assessment and preliminary design.
Included in the work are possible upgrades to the intersections at Lakeshore Drive and Booth Road, as well as at Lakeshore Drive and Pinewood Park Drive, in order to address potential future increases in traffic. Also under consideration are new sidewalks and bike lanes.
