Dive Brief:
Tapestry on Thursday said that Todd Kahn, who has been serving as interim CEO at its Coach brand since last July, has the job permanently, effective immediately.
Kahn took over upon the abrupt departure of Tapestry CEO Jide Zeitlin, who had also been leading Coach. Kahn has been with the company since 2008 in various leadership roles, and will report directly to Tapestry CEO Joanne Crevoiserat.
The decision helps wrap up a period of turmoil for the organization. Even before Zeitlin s exit, Tapestry was shaking up its C-suite amid the challenges presented by the pandemic, with Coach chief Joshua Schulman leaving and new leadership at the Kate Spade and Stuart Weitzman labels early last year.

Thuso Mbedu: Born and bred! I’m from the land of the Zulus, a province called KwaZulu-Natal.
Growing up, did you always know you wanted to perform?
Thuso Mbedu: I actually thought I was going to be a dermatologist, because when I was younger I had all these allergies. So I did biology, mathematics and all that, and then chose drama as the ‘relaxing’ subject. And I just fell in love with it. We were writing, creating, acting, and I remember having to perform this poem I’d written for one of my exams, but the performance was also open for public viewing. Afterwards, there were these grown people coming up to me,just in tears, crying and thanking me.
Elsesser (pronounced El-SESS-er) saw the issue for the first time on a video call with her mother and grandmother. Her boyfriend, Johnny Wilson, a videographer and skateboarder, filmed the reveal; it’s impossible to watch it without joining in on the women’s happy tears. “This was a huge deal for me – I wanted to celebrate that with the people I want to make proud,” she says
It was the highest-profile moment in an otherwise introspective period. Elsesser spent most of last spring and summer in her New York apartment, reacquainting with herself. “The weirdest part was just having to look at who I am outside of work, friends and family members. Like, what is it that brings me joy outside of other people’s expectations?”
Jennifer Lopez and the Pillow Tabby Bag
But of course Jennifer Lopez was on hand to help Coach launch its newest iteration of the Pillow Tabby bag, which is named for its plush look and soft Nappa leather. The Tabby silhouette actually dates back to an archival 1970s design that Coach Creative Director Stuart Vevers has reinvented. The team even called in oversize Tabbies specifically for the fun campaign photographed by Juergen Teller, also including models Binx Walton, Camila Morrone, Paloma Elsesser, and Quincy. Lately, the brand has been all about a youthful, nostalgic approach to fashion, and this campaign is no different.
