+ March 11, 2021 A DAVAO City councilor revealed that the city government is planning to erect a monument of Datu Bago, the city’s hero who fought against the Spaniards.
Councilor Pilar Braga, committee chairperson on education, science, and technology, said in a radio interview on Thursday, March 11, 2021, that the city is coming up with a statue depicting the heroism of Datu Bago.
Braga said the city is still looking for a site for the statue. Among the locations they are choosing from is somewhere in Bolton Riverside in Ecoland, Matina, and a portion along the Davao City Coastal Road.

+ December 11, 2020 A DAVAO City councilor said it is high time that individuals who made a large impact on the city s progress be prioritized in the naming of important street landmarks.
Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang said this during the privilege hour on Tuesday, December 7, during the 19th City Council regular session, as his remark to Councilor Pilar Braga s resolution to pass an ordinance renaming the Emilio Jacinto Extension Street (simply called as Jacinto Extension) to Leopoldo Abellera Street.
Braga said the late Abellera is one of the imminent Davao figures deserving of such accolade. Over the decades, a number of lustrous men and women, known for their lasting and indelible contribution to the progress of Davao, have been bestowed the honor due them for their shared positive influence towards public service, who deserve to be immortalized by our landmark or our monument, she said.
