Swimmer drowns at Lake Tapps

A 24-year-old man drowned Saturday while swimming in Lake Tapps Saturday afternoon, Pierce County Sheriff s Department reported.
According to witnesses, he was trying to swim across the lake. His family made the initial 911 call, and the sheriff s department was called to North Lake Tapps County Park at 3:47 p.m.
Pierce County Sheriff s Department s Marine Services Unit and Dive Team responded. At 4:32 p.m. the team recovered the swimmer.

One killed, another injured in shooting at Pierce County house party

One person died and another was injured in a shooting at a South Hill house party early Sunday morning, police said.
Police received 911 calls at 2:47 a.m. reporting the shooting at a residence in the 12100 block of 105th Avenue Court East.
Officials said there was a fight in the street followed by several shots getting fired.
At least two people were hit. One has since died, and the other is at an area hospital.
Neighbors reported around 70 people in attendance, mostly under the age of 21, police said.
