For the last nine mo fnzes he has been out overnight, virtually every night five, six, sometimes seven nights a week to help us hit this deadline. And hes probably inside because i realize at this point he is no longer used to sunlight. So [laughter] im sure he is glad that we will be getting these trains in service. But congratulations to all of them. And finally i do want to recognize some of the other people who contributed a lot of their time while they continued to do their daily responsibilities. Scott broder. I see lisa wallton from i. T. Whos worked with us in resolving system problems. Terry fahey with the track crew. Part of what was done was constant adjustment to fit a highly technical vehicle on to our system which has to accommodate b. C. C. S and brada cars. Not an easy test. Maintenance. Kept the system going while we drained a lot of key staff to work on the l. R. V. 4. S
Because here in San Francisco, were really fortunate, as the mayor said, to have some generous voters. Emwho say, you know, when we put something on the ballot, they support it. They know its the right thing to do. The infrastructure project, all of the things that we need to do to make sure not only that our city is working today. We need to make sure it is working for generations to come yes, were all upset over the congestion. Yes, we dont like van ness avenue right now and a couple of other places. But at the end of the day, its going to be even better. This is an example of what we can accomplish when we make these projects work for san franciscans. So thank you to each one of you. I believe homelessness in San Francisco in its self emergency with 7500 people on any given night 20,000 people Year Experience homelessness and as we drive to reduce those numbers and get people access to services and theyre in their homelessness we need to have Access Points in this city so that we can better use and expand our existing programs so having our homeward bound staff on site with access to showers for people who need to get on the bus and make it more efficient and make it possible for us to serve even more people and that particular program and having Access Points coordinated entry councillors on site are going to speed up peoples access to permanent supporter but just importantly its going to let people know who are not qualified for permanent Supportive Housing what services are available to them so we can keep people from waiting on our streets hoping theyll get in to housing and rapid rehousing and other programs to get people off of our streets and back in
The other side of 6th street. Park and rec in this plan, i frankly have more faith elsewhere than the soma plan. The rec center has not had hand towels since may. So there are issues when we talk about renovating the rec center and creating parks, what it means for now . How can we creep eight new when we dont take care of what we have . And i feel theres disproportionate investment in structures, not people. There are people in crisis that need the support and putting it into a building or a set of activities doesnt meet the need where it is. I dont want my kids to have to see that on the way to school. Espn2. Greenhousearing on gas standards on vehicles and how its affecting the industry. This is just over two hours. Well, good morning. Today we are here to talk about the fuel program in the Greenhouse Gas emission standards at the u. S. Epa. This program was established by congress in 1975. The goals of the program are to improve fuel economy, reduce oil consumption, and secure the Nations Energy independence. It has gone through major changes in the past four decades because of political and economic forces. Less than 10 years ago, the epa standards are created to incentivize the production of more efficient vehicles that will use less fuel and less Carbon Dioxide. Various states have enacted their own standards relation to automobile omissions. Behind theseon garments are created in a complicated rep. Torres came. Energy independence important goal but realworld facts and must drive her to tory choices. Choices. Regulatory there is an attempt to create a National Standard guard to
