South Sumatra: Former legislator caught ferrying drugs, detained 3rd March 2021

(ANTARA/Aziz Munajar/21) Palembang, S Sumatra (ANTARA) - Samsul Bahri (39), a former legislator from South Sumatra’s Pidie Jaya district, was nabbed by the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) on Monday while trying to transport 5 kg of drugs in his car.
Following his arrest, BNN also apprehended two more suspects in connection with the case.
Providing details about the case on Wednesday, Brig.Gen.M.Arief Ramdhani from BNN’s South Sumatra Office said the agency launched a raid after receiving a tip that 5 kg of crystal methamphetamine was to be brought into South Sumatra from Aceh.

However, this trespassing large land mammal has terrified many residents in the two villages because it has caused them to suffer material losses owing to their damaged food crops, he said.

JAKARTA, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) Authorities in Indonesia s province of Aceh have rescued a sun bear that had been stuck in a wire trap for several days in a plantation area.
The eight-year-old female sun bear was initially found by locals in Meurah Dua area, Pidie Jaya district, on Tuesday, who later contacted the local authorities, the Aceh Natural Resources Conservation Agency s head Agus Arianto said in the province s capital Banda Aceh on Saturday, as reported by state news agency Antara.
According to the agency, the bear had to have one of her legs amputated after suffering horrific injuries caused by the trap.
