well, progressive groups in pennsylvania say they will appeal to the state supreme court after a judge yesterday upheld a law requiring photo i.d. to vote. the law pushed for by republicans would be in effect for the presidential election in november. adding new urgency to the democratic effort to win the battleground state. the judge disagreed with civil rights groups, who argue the law could disenfranchise thousands of voters often minorities and elderly who might have trouble accessing the required photo i.d. opponents of the law say basic democracy is under threat. he always showed identification. but you didn t have to have a picture identification. you see the waited until after the election to decide that. you have a right to vote and here again, we struggle through the 60s for the right to vote and here it is 2000 and we re going through the same things. how would you feel if you weren t able to vote? i d feel very badly.
