Cyprus HICP Rises In April The harmonized index of consumer prices, or HICP, grew 1.2 percent year-on-year in April. Prices for clothing and footwear increased 5.1 percent annually in April and those of transport rose 5.0 percent. Prices for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels, and recreation and culture gained by 3.0 percent and 2.9 percent, respectively. On a month-on-month basis, the HICP rose 0.8 percent in April. For the January to April period, the HICP decreased 0.1 percent compared to the corresponding period of the previous year. Slovakia HICP Inflation Increases In April LJUBLJANA (dpa-AFX) - Slovakia s EU measure of inflation increased in April, data from the Statistical Office Of the Slovak Republic showed on Wednesday. The harmonized index of consumer prices, or HICP, rose 1.7 percent year-on-year in April, following a 1.5 percent gain in March. Economists had expected a rise of 1.8 percent. On a month-on-month basis, increased 0.2 percent in April, after a 0.6 percent gain in the preceding month. This was in line with economists expectation. Earlier, the statistical office reported that the consumer price index rose 1.6 percent yearly in April and gained 0.2 percent from a month ago.

The harmonized index of consumer prices, or HICP, rose 1.5 percent year-on-year in March, following a 0.9 percent gain in February. Economists had expected a rise of 1.4 percent. On a month-on-month basis, increased 0.6 percent in March, following a 0.3 percent gain in the preceding month. Economists had forecast a 0.5 percent rise. Earlier, the statistical office reported that the consumer price index rose 1.4 percent yearly in March and gained 0.5 percent from a month ago. The core inflation rose to 1.6 percent in March from 1.3 percent in the prior month.
