For more than three decades, pianist Derek Han was at the heart of the widely acclaimed La Musica International Chamber Music Festival each spring in Sarasota.  He was there from the beginning in 1987, working alongside Artistic Director Bruno Giuranna, the Italian violinist. He was in his late 20s at the time. When Han was named associate artistic director about 15 years ago, many assumed he would eventually take over when the 88-year-old Giuranna eventually retires.
